Psychoanalytic theories of psychoses

Abstract: Freud considered psychotic persons to be inapt for psychoanalytic treatment. He claimed psychotics unable to form transference in the therapy, because of the detachment of libido from objects. Federn was the first to contest this standpoint. Henceforth many psychoanalysts treated psychotic persons and introduced necessary modifications in the technique. Contributions to the theory of psychoses are presented in the article.
